PRECIPITATION HARDENING STAINLESS STEEL
These grades offer reasonable corrosion resistance with extremely high strengths and hardness values obtained through heat treatments. The overall corrosion resistance of these materials is superior to most martensitic stainless steels but not as good as standard austenitic stainless steels.
Alloy Properties | |
---|---|
Grades | ASTM A 747 Gr : CB7Cu 1 |
Applications | For high-strength requirements (to 175 KSI); a superior combination of strength, toughness and weldability with moderately good corrosion resistance |
Limitations | Should be used in an aged condition |
Typical Uses | Structural parts requiring at least moderate corrosion resistance |
Machinability | Good when in condition A (solutioned) |
Weldability | Should be welded in soft condition, then re-solutioned and re-aged |
Corrosion Resistance | Moderate to good |
